Facebook For Android Gets A Great Update

4 08 2010

Just downloaded the update to the Facebook App  for Android update 1.3.0, and I must say, it got some major improvements.

The home screen’s interface got a face lift, where you can clearly see a messages and search button up top. All the quick reference buttons like friend requests, news feed, profile, etc.  are smaller but still look better than before than being that dull 6-block layout, and they left room for possibly two-more buttons to be added in the future. Beneath that, you can see pictures of recent posts by your friends, so when Adidas launches new shoes, for example, I can see them easier and quicker than before than having to scroll all the way through the news feeds. Clicking it takes you right to the post as well, which is also cool. Finally, they added a notifications bar at the bottom, where if you touch it, it rises up and displays all your recent notifications in a clear, detailed way.

All-in-all, the home screen fixing did it for me. The update is a must for all Facebook app users on Android.

Review: Auslogics

7 07 2010

Auslogics is a program I recently decided to try because my Windows Disk Defrag was acting up and not functioning. So, to keep up with my daily defragging, I went over to download.com and picked up this little tool. Best of all, it was free.

It’s fairly simple to use. Once downloaded and installed, getting into it isn’t too hard. The main screen displays the available drives for defragmenting, similar to the fashion the Windows Disk Defrag does. Underneath those options, there are three tabs positioned. One shows a report of recent defrags, the next tab the files being defragged, and the third tab the system’s “health”. One of the most resourceful and useful features to it though, is its ability to defrag a specific file or folder through the action tab. That’s great for folders that carry a high amount of media, or receive the most downloads, and thus would require more of the defragging anyway usually.

All in all, for freeware, this is just as good as the Windows default version that come standard on PCs. I definitely recommend checking this out and taking it for a spin.
